North Attleborough -

Have you noticed the yellow framed posters in the windows of the storefronts in downtown North Attleborough?
Thanks to Superintendant of Schools Richard Smith for embracing the idea of this project to assist the North Attleborough Historical Commission and the Downtown Associates of North Attleborough with a way to involve school students to help to promote Flower Power, the downtown beautification project that benefits everyone!
We are impressed and amazed with the creativity of the talented young artists at the Middle School:
Grade 6: Tom Orfan, Joyce Chen, Emily Chandran, Jacob Rivello, Kelsey Michaud, Marissa Chura;
Grade 7: Elizabeth Sieber, Lauren Phipps, Rachel Guisti, Ellie Pariseau, Ryan Reid, Amanda Clinton, Ella Haines, Marissa Meda, Christina Melfi, Stephen Hrycenko, Brent Medeiros;
Grade 8: Ashlin Treadway, Emily Ducharme, Anna Fougere, Sarah Figueiredo, Rachael Ducharme, Hannah Fisher, Rose Hannan and Emily Fortier!
The posters were judged by a team of volunteers from DANA and the Historical Commission. It was not an easy decision as each poster was different and very special.
The winning posters of Rachel Guisti and Rose Hannan were the two designs that will be adapted to be used on T-Shirts.  When produced, the T-shirts will be sold by the Downtown Associates of North Attleborough to raise funds for the purchase and maintenance of flowering planters.
They are in the process of getting bids for the production of the T Shirts and are also looking for a graphic artist to convert the winning designs to a format for the printer.
Thank you to Middle School art teachers Martha McGahan and Mary Wojciechowski for allowing their classes to participate in this project!
The downtown Flower Project is totally funded by private donations from businesses and individuals. The flowers draw people to enjoy the downtown, enhance the streetscape and add vitality to the heart of the downtown business area.  Please come downtown to see for yourself the beautiful work done by these young artists .
Help keep our downtown growing!  Your tax deductible donation for the flowering planters can be mailed to the Town of North Attleborough Historical Commission Flower Power Fund at 43 South Washington St., North Attleborough, MA 02760  or to the Downtown Associates of North Attleborough (DANA) 31 North Washington St, Suite 3, North Attleborough, MA. 02760.
Donations for the flowering planters are gratefully appreciated and will be recognized in the media.

-Ann J. Chapdelaine, chairman North Attleborough Historical Commission and member of DANA.
