Back in 2005, when 15-year-old Nicole Caron first noticed that three of her fingers were numb, she had no idea that they were a symptom of a disease; nor did she know that they were the first sign of what would later become her very own crusade.
"I was at soccer camp in August of 2005," said Nicole. "I came home from camp, and had numb fingers. I assumed that I had just hurt myself at camp. I've always been really healthy."

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, Sue and Larry Moreau got the worst news parents can ever get. More than four weeks ago, the calls came a week before their Thanksgiving holiday with family.
"My daughter called up saying that her mother-in-law was dying of cancer," said Sue. "Her and her husband took separate cars to the hospital. She took her daughter, my granddaughter, while he followed behind. He called us, said there was an accident. It didn't look good."
"When you get the call, you think, 'No, it couldn't be," said Sue.

For years, Joseph Constantini has been one of the University of Florida Gators' biggest fans. His passion for the football team has burned since "he was a baby," when his uncles living near Gainsville, Florida first began sending him packages full of Gators merchandise.
"My brothers used to feed it," said Liz Constantini, Joseph's mother. "They were always sending him shirts, hats, and stuffed gators. Joseph thought the gators were the strangest mascot."

Kids come out on top after exciting weekend

Fri Jul 20, 2007, 10:57 AM EDT

Saturday night, July 14, the sky above Mason Field was lit with a bodacious display of fireworks. After the 18-minute, $25,000, beautifully orchestrated pyrotechnic spectacle, you would expect the word on the street to be a positive exchange of enjoyed experiences. Instead, the usual influx of local appreciation was marred by one critical question: Why was there only one fireworks display this year?

Most kids, let alone four-year old kids, don't ask to forego the presents for a little charity work. And most parents, if approached by a young son about donating their presents, wouldn't believe him.
