The gates of youth

North Attleborough -Community Field has long been called the jewels of North Attleborough and one of the most beautiful athletic fields in the region.
In a statement by the great-grandchildren of James and Martha Munroe, following the more than $20,000 restoration of the gates to the field:
Hundreds of thousands of children and adults have entered through the Community Field gateway that our great grandparents created in 1931 in memory of their son Clarence (Toot) Munroe and dedicated to the youth of our town. It was important to us that this symbolic gift be restored and continues to be the welcoming "front door" to one of the jewels of North Attleborough, the field of dreams for many of North Attleborough's youth that our great grandparents had intended. Thanks to the following people the restoration has been completed.
Our deepest gratitude goes to Jeff Badger and Tom Bodge of Badger Welding; John Tumavicus of Northeast Concrete Stamping, Inc.; The North Attleboro Board of Selectman, and the Mason Trust Fund. A very special thank you goes to Park and Recreation Director, Steve Carvalho. His tireless dedication and assistance with this project (much of the time "off the clock"), far exceeded any expectation. He, himself, is a town treasure.
With many thanks, Gary J. Berkley and Laurie J. Carpenter
