Damon Joseph Swistak, 77, of Longview Drive, North Attleborough, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after having been hospitalized on Oct. 30, 2007.  He was the husband of Margaret (Lawton) Swistak to whom he was married on June 26, 1954.
Born in North Attleborough on April 20, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Phoebe Ellen (Brown) Swistak. A lifelong resident of the North Attleborough community, Mr. Swistak was a 1950 graduate of North Attleborough High School.
He honorably served his country during the Korean War era from 1950 until 1952 with the United States Navy.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a service parts specialist for Cumberland Engineering for 23 years.
An active member of the Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge in North Attleboro, Mr. Swistak was the past master of the lodge having been a member since 1973.
He was a member and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star - Angle Stone Chapter #118, North Attleborough; was a member and served was a past high priest of the Rabboni Royal Arch Chapter and was a member and member of the Advisory Board of the former North Attleborough Assembly #59.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves a son: Joseph J. Swistak of Brockton; three beloved and admired grandchildren: Sarah N. Achin of North Attleborough; Donald H. Achin III of North Attleborough and Dillon E. Achin of North Attleborough and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Swistak was the father of the late Karen Jean (Swistak) Achin who died on June 26, 1994. He was the brother of the late Joseph James Swistak and Ellen Ruth Sousa of Attleboro.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleborough.
Those in need of a ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in the "Memorial Chapel" with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of the Central Congregational Church, Attleboro Falls, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleborough.
At Mr. Swistak's request, there will be no ritual services conducted by the Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. or the Order of the Eastern Star - Angle Stone Chapter #118 during visitation or military honors following committal prayers.
Children's room available during visitation and funeral service.
Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a continued celebration of Mr. Swistak's life and refreshments at a location to be announced. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Swistak's name may be made to the Community VNA Hospice Care, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA  02703 in recognition of the organization's care and support of family members.
