Frank A. Spinale, 81, of Sutherland Road died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 in his home. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Byrne) Spinale for 52 years.
Born on July 25, 1926 in Salem, he was a son of the late Gaegano and Conchetta (Zuccarello) Spinale.
Frank graduated from William Blackstone Intermediate School in Boston and received an associates degree in industrial engineering from the Lincoln Institute at Northeastern University in 1955. In 1983 he earned a masters in manufacturing engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts.
Frank’s engineering skills lead him to employment at the Edward Weck Company in Mystic, CT, Hasbro Corp. in Pawtucket, and the Davol Co. in Cranston. Frank then joined his brother to design and manufacture special automated machinery at S & S Automation in North Attleborough until his retirement in 1998. Frank continued to consult through New Directions until 2005.
Frank was a communicant of St. Mark’s Parish for many years where he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister and served on the parish council, stewardship committee and in renew ministry.
He was a senior member of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers and a lifetime member of the Handyman Club of America.
For the past few years he has enjoyed being part of the OMLC (Old Men’s Lunch Club) and building his model ships. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, spending the off-season in North Truro and traveling to see his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Munka” to many.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Frank “Guy” Spinale and fiancee Paula Flemming of Charleston, SC, Patty Spinale and her husband Geoffrey Hall of New Orleans, LA, Anne Lonzo and her husband Art of North Attleborough, Peter Spinale and his wife, Dawne of Austin, TX and St. Paul, MN, and Christina “Tina” Spinale of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Carlo Spinale and Emily, Mary, Eddy and Grace Lonzo; four siblings, Leonarda Catizone of Medford, Francis Celino in Florida, Carmella DePasqua of Wrentham and Joseph Spinale of Wrentham; also many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was brother of the late Theresa Marguardo.
