Ross J. Forbes

Ross J. Forbes, 86, of Jay Street died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 in Study Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine (Germaine) Forbes who passed away in 1990.
Born Dec. 20, 1921 in North Attleborough, he was a son of the late William and Anna (King) Forbes.
Ross was a lifelong resident of North Attleborough and worked nearly forty years at the Foxboro Company before retiring in 1983. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge in North Attleborough.
Ross was known for reading three newspapers every day and loved playing cards and cribbage. He also loved walking, especially at South Shore Beach in Little Compton where he would walk to the point and sit on his favorite rock.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Conlon of North Attleborough; two sons, Ross J. Forbes of Norton and John Forbes of Stone Mountain, GA; four brothers, Cameron Forbes of North Attleborough, Richard Forbes of North Attleborough, William Forbes of Falmouth and Harold Forbes of Centerville; seven grandchildren, Ryan Conlon, Katie Ventrone, Ross Forbes III, Alexzandra Forbes, Weston Forbes, Kelsey Forbes and Benjamin Forbes; also many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9 in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., North Attleborough from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Mr. Forbes’ nephew, The Reverend Richard F. Cash will officiate a funeral in the Sperry & McHoul Chapel immediately following visiting hours. Private interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne will be held at a later date.
