Edward Francis Mis

Edward Francis Mis, 90, of Putnam Pike and formerly a longtime resident of South Attleboro died early Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2007 at Fatima Hospital, North Providence after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Anderson) Mis who passed away in 2001.
Born Dec. 3, 1917 in Taftville, CT, he was a son of the late Albert and Agnes (Pruchnik) Mis.
Edward grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren Public Schools before attending Thibodeau Business College in Fall River where he studied accounting. He was a resident of South Attleboro from 1950 until moving to Greenville in 2001.
An accountant by trade, Ed joined the civil service working for the Internal Revenue Service as a professional tax accountant for over 30 years until retiring in the mid 1960s. He then did some personal tax work for several years and later worked at the accounting firm, Arcaro & Reilly in Providence for nearly 15 years before retiring in 1995.
Edward served the US Army Air Corps during World War II and achieved the rank of Major. Following the war, he served the US Army Reserves for many years, serving in wartime again during the Korean War.
Edward was a longtime communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleborough where he served as the church treasurer for several years. He enjoyed carpentry, working in his yard and road trips with his wife, Helen.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Mis) Sim of Central Falls; step-children, Cynthia D’Agenais of Mansfield, Wendy Carpenter of Attleboro, and Louis Carpenter of Manchester, CT; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was brother of the late Joseph and Chester Mis and step-father of the late Joanne Clark.
Burial was Friday, Dec. 21 in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro.
