Marion E. Ballou

Marion E. Ballou 93, of Arcade Ave. died Dec. 16, 2007 at the Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Arthur Ballou and had been married to the former George A. Bennett. Born on Nov. 3, 1914, in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Frederick W. and Elizabeth M. (Greene) Pope.
Marion had lived in Seekonk since 1937. She worked as a teacher for Angle Acres Day School for 20 years. She also taught piano and organ. She played piano in two orchestras; The Providence Civic Orchestra of Senior Citizens, and the Cranston Music Makers. She was a piano player for the East Providence and Seekonk Rotary Club until recently. She was a member of the Newman Congregational Church for 52 years.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Janice M. Steitz and her husband, Robert A. of Lincoln; her son George "Bud" Bennett and his wife, Jane of North Attleborough; her stepchildren, Joan Mathes and her husband George, and Joyce Kelley and her husband Skip, all of Old Greenwich, CT. She leaves her beloved twin sister Dorothy B. Scott of Seekonk, 13 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren. She leaves her companion and friend William E. Harper. She was the sister of the late William Pope and Frank Pope.
A Memorial Celebration of Marion's Life was held Saturday, Dec. 23 in Newman Congregational Church, Newman Ave., Rumford, RI.
