North Attleborough Veterans Day ceremony failed to recognize all organizations

North Attleborough -

To The Editor:

Dear Mr. McCann:

Your program for Veterans Day in North Attleborough was an embarrassment to all Veterans in this town. Not once did you acknowledge the VFW, DAV or the American Legion.
That day is neither about you nor your medical situation nor is it about the fire or police departments. It is about the citizens of this town and the men and women who have given their lives in the name of freedom.
Not once did you acknowledge either one of these organizations and, by the way, we are not fraternal organizations, we are veterans’ organizations. You did not include any patriotic songs and most of all you never included taps in your program. Kudos to American Legion Post 49 for taking the reins to have a gun salute to our fallen comrades.
After participating in the Attleboro Veterans Day program, you need to take a long hard look at your office and what it stands for. As a veteran and as a resident of North Attleborough, I am embarrassed to have you as our Veterans Officer.
