State Representatives John Lepper (R-Attleboro) and Elizabeth “Betty” Poirier (R-North Attleborough) have announced Dodge Mill Realty LLC has received a grant of $196,000 from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) Renewable Energy Trust Fund.
These awards were funded through the MTC’s Large On-Site Renewables Initiative.
Dodge Mill Realty LLC located in Attleboro will develop a small hydroelectric system at the Dodgeville Dam. Dodge Mill Realty traces its roots from the Mossberg Realty Company founded by Robert J. Demers.
The Mossberg Realty Company purchased the Dodgeville Mill over 25 years ago which has been refurbishing and renovating to create a multiuse facility for use by small manufacturing and commercial companies from the surrounding community.
Dodge Mill Realty owns the facility, the dam, and much of the impoundment, Dodgeville Pond. The remaining elements of the former hydropower system are no longer usable. The project includes the construction of a new intake structure, penstock, powerhouse and tailrace, as well as the installation of four new Schnieder Linear Hydro Engine turbine/generator sets and associated electrical equipment, which is a new type of machine for hydroelectric generation.
