North Attleborough -

North Attleborough's Youth wrestling team, Kryptonite Club, took 18 wrestlers to the Massachusetts State championship tournament in Ludlow on Sunday, February 24 to compete for a title and a chance to represent Massachusetts in the New England championships.

Of North's 18 competitors, Bob Deveau, competing at 190 pounds, and Dan Kummer, at 120 pounds, each won State titles on the day putting their best efforts against over 50 teams and some of the best wrestlers from all over Massachusetts.

In the finals of the 190-pound weight class match, Deveau came back from an early deficit to pin his opponent and claim the state title.

Kummer, coming off two impressive tournaments in the past two weeks, dominated the 120-pound weight class by winning all three of his matches, with one pin in the process.

Both Deveau and Kummer will have top seeds in the New England tournament to be held at Hudson High School on March 9.

Ben Alegria, also competing in the 190-pound class finished the tournament in third place to also earn a spot in the New England championships.

Peter Kummer, will join his brother Dan in the New England tournament by virtue of his second place finish at 152 pounds. Kummer lost his bid for a state title in the finals by dropping a tough decision to another well schooled grappler.
