Congressman McGovern featured speaker

North Attleborough -

     Congressman Jim McGovern is the featured speaker among the many elected officials and new candidates  at  the “Annual Southeastern Massachusetts Democratic Regional Spring Unity Brunch” this coming Saturday, May 17th in Attleboro.  Congressman McGovern is joined by Secretary of State Bill Galvin, District Attorney Sam Sutter, State Senator Jim Timlity, State Senator Joan Menard and many other state and local elected officials.

      New candidates speaking at this event include Ed O’Reilly, a Democrat trying to unseat U.S. Senator John Kerry. Four other new candidates that are trying to unseat or fill current seats held by Republican candidates include State Senate candidate Sara Orozco (Norfolk, Bristol, and Middlesex, District),  State Representative candidate Devin Romanul (First Bristol), and State Representative candidates Bill Bowles and Kate Jackson (Second Bristol).

      Eleven local activists will also be receiving their “Life-Time”  Democratic Party membership certificates for having 20 or more years of active service with the Democratic Party.

      The same event last year provided energetic speeches from Congressmen Barney Frank and Jim McGovern, and Governor Deval Patrick. (see www.attleborodemocrats.org to see a video of last year’s speeches)

      Attleboro’s Democratic City Committee is hosting this event for the 11th straight year. The event is being held from 9 to 11:30 AM at the Moose Cabin Family Steak House on O’Neil Boulevard.  Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The event is open to the public.
